The Cosgrove brothers in Co Monaghan founded Grove Turkeys Ltd in 1972 and developed it as a fully integrated turkey livestock rearing and processing business. This consisted of breeding, hatching and commercial livestock growing together with processing and sale of an extensive range of poultry products to the market. The processing plant was severely damaged by fire in 1993 and was subsequently enlarged and rebuilt in 1994. The rebuild involved streamlining product and process flow together with the provision of new administration and staff amenities. The factory is one of the most modern EU licensed poultry processing plants in the British Isles. The Company was purchased by Kerry Group Plc in 1988 and continued to grow and develop its customer and product base. In December 2006 a management buyout acquired the business from Kerry PLC. The current owners Amber REI holdings Ltd acquired the business in June 2016.
